Ever seen on of these? The tiny house movement is in some ways a return to our roots. Think of Little House in the Big Woods. One-room cabins were a way of life then, and that was less than 150 years ago.
Blasting to the past doesn’t have to be all or nothing. What’s inspiring about these tiny homes is the creative design. There many multifunctional components while maintaining an eye for aesthetics. Modern conveniences can be cleverly included in a tiny space (think incinerating and composting toilets, for example!).
This movement is a reminder that there are folks on the fringe of our consuming culture, doing things a different way and living with a drastically reduced carbon footprint. Whether it’s minimalism, Mustachianism, or tiny living, we’re out there and we’re getting louder.
There’s a film about tiny living, too!
Though not as tiny, Apartment Therapy has inspiring profiles of small spaces.
